Kybella in Fort Worth
Kybella is deoxycholic acid, a molecule your body already makes to break down dietary fat. Injected into the pocket under the chin, it destroys those fat cells and your body clears them over the following weeks. Once they are gone they do not come back, which makes it the rare aesthetic treatment with a genuinely permanent result, achieved with a needle rather than surgery.

What it does
The FDA-approved indication is improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe convexity or fullness associated with submental fat in adults. Submental means under the chin, and that is the area it is approved for.
What makes it unusual is permanence. Most injectables are replaced or repeated because the product resorbs. Kybella destroys the fat cells themselves, your body clears them, and they do not regenerate. Once you have reached the result you want, you are largely done.
It also does this without surgery. There is no incision, no stitches and no general anesthetic, which for a lot of people is the entire reason they are interested in it.
Who gets the best result from it
The people who do best have a defined pocket of fat under the chin and reasonable skin quality, so that skin retracts smoothly as the fat goes. If that describes you, this is a very satisfying treatment.
Fullness under the chin can also come from other things: loose skin with little fat under it, a platysma band, or a chin that sits back so a normal amount of tissue reads as a double chin. Those have different and equally good answers, from radiofrequency microneedling for firmness to chin projection with filler, which frequently transforms a profile more than anything done to the fat itself.

What the days after look like
Swelling after Kybella is expected and it is the treatment working: as fat cells break down, your body mounts the inflammatory response that clears them.
Plan on visible swelling under the chin for several days, sometimes with bruising, tenderness, some firmness under the skin and a period of numbness in the area. All of it settles, and the numbness in particular is common and temporary rather than a complication.
The practical advice is simply to book it with a clear couple of weeks afterwards rather than in the run-up to an event. People who plan it that way are consistently happy with the trade: a few visible days for a permanent change.

How many treatments will I need?
It depends on how much fat is present and the result you want. The label allows up to six, spaced at least a month apart, and many people need fewer. You will get a realistic estimate at consultation rather than discovering it as you go.
Is the result really permanent?
The fat cells destroyed do not regenerate, so yes. Significant weight change and ordinary aging still affect how the area looks over time, but the fat that has been treated is gone for good.
What is the swelling like?
Noticeable for several days, sometimes with bruising and a period of numbness that can last a few weeks. It settles completely. Book it with a clear stretch afterwards rather than before an event and it is very manageable.
Can Kybella be used on other areas?
It is approved specifically for fullness under the chin, and the label notes that use elsewhere has not been established. Some providers do use it off-label in other areas. Lindsey will tell you plainly when something sits outside the approved use so you can decide with the facts in front of you.
Is CoolSculpting or Kybella better for a double chin?
They are different routes to the same goal: one freezes fat cells, the other dissolves them. The better choice depends on how much fat there is, your skin quality and how much swelling you want to plan around.
